Inserting media overview

To insert a Java applet, Shockwave movie, Flash movie, ActiveX control, or other audio or video objects in a page, do one of the following:

Place the insertion point where you want the object to be, and then click the appropriate button on the Object palette.
Drag the appropriate button from the Object palette to where you want the object to appear in the Document window.
Place the insertion point and then choose the appropriate object from the Insert > Media submenu.

In most cases, a dialog box appears allowing you to choose a source file and specify certain parameters for the media object. To prevent such dialog boxes from appearing, choose Edit > Preferences and deselect the Show Dialog When Inserting Objects option.

Each Object palette button inserts the necessary HTML source code to make the object appear on the page. Use the Property inspector to specify the source file, dimensions, and other parameters.
